Kirkstall Valley Park (KVP) is the community-led charity that supports the work of Kirkstall Valley Development Trust. KVP has been active for over 20 years and in 2026 it has refreshed its board and formed a partnership to work closely with KVDT.
KVP aims to hold the broader vision for bringing new life to the Kirkstall Valley Park - one of the UK’s largest urban greenspaces. Stretching from Leeds city centre to the new train station at Kirkstall Forge along the River Aire, the valley has long been overlooked—yet it holds incredible potential. Our mission is simple: reconnect people with this beautiful green corridor and create a welcoming destination for nature, heritage and community.
We’re transforming the valley into a place to explore, relax and discover. From restoring green routes and celebrating local wildlife to creating inviting spaces along the river and canal, we’re building a vibrant landscape for residents and visitors alike. We have bold plans including an interactive map, new seating areas, wayfinding, and visitor experiences that will make the valley easier and more inspiring to explore. We also want to explore new bigger ventures with some of the old mills in the valley, and continue to support our very successful farm.
With community at the heart of everything we do, the Kirkstall Valley park is growing into a landmark destination that celebrates the city’s and region’s identity—and brings people together in nature. Over the next year, we will be setting up a stakeholder forum and undertaking community engagement. If you would like to get involved, get in touch with us.
