Explorer Tots is back!
Friday 17 September 2021
We are pleased to let you know that our most recent children’s group, that started in spring earlier this year, is returning for the autumn term!
Kirkstall Valley Explorer Tots, a play group for pre-schoolers, offers a unique opportunity for children and their carers to play, explore and develop learning skills, in the great outdoors of our community farm: Kirkstall Valley Farm.
“I am so happy to have found this group – it provides a great opportunity for me and my son to learn and play together in a beautiful setting.”
“My child enjoyed all elements of this group. There was so much to do- something for everyone. The activities were so well thought out and we had so much fun. I was honestly so impressed with this group and we left feeling like we had had a proper good play session.”
Following some super feedback, received after the end of last term’s play sessions, we have slightly amended the set up of this group to make it more accessible for more people – we have reduced the cost, now £2 per child (over 1 year old), extended the session (now running for two hours from 10am to 12pm…stay as long or as little as you feel), and will also be running the group every Tuesday and Thursday throughout term-time.
Whilst there will still be a craft activity available every session for children, it will a be less structured group, allowing children the freedom to more between the activities as they feel; which will include the giant sandpit which was installed at the start of the summer, water-play, play dough, painting, crafts and music.
“The thing I liked most about the session was the freedom to explore the different activities at our own pace and in our own way. Having just a few pieces of equipment at each station I think helped my little one to focus and encouraged her to play for longer. We also loved being outside on a real farm.”
Also new to this term, we have a fantastic new space – the play area is tucked-away at the bottom of the farm where there is more shelter from the trees plus a recently-erected wooden shelter (reassuring, I’m sure you will agree, now we are coming into the colder and wetter months of the year!*).
The sessions will be guided and assisted by our wonderful KVDT team members: Autumn, Andrew and Josie.
“The staff and volunteers were very friendly and welcoming, making a point of greeting us when we arrived and introducing the activities and facilities. This is so important to me when I go somewhere new as it helps put me at ease and feel part of the group.”
If you would like to join us for some fun, we’d love to see you there! Starts Thursday 23 September 2021. Places are limited to please book.
*We will endeavour to run the sessions throughout the term. Please make sure you and your children are dressed appropriately. However, should the weather be torrential rain, it is likely that we will have to cancel and we will do our best to notify you the night before).
